The PK-6 Education Content Area Minors are offered through the Department for Interdisciplinary Studies (IDST). IDST is the intellectual home for a group of distinct interdisciplinary programs in the humanities and social sciences that serve the teaching, research, and public service missions of the University

The PK-6 Education Content Area minors prepare undergraduates who are interested in pursuing a career in Elementary or Early Childhood Education for graduate programs in the Commonwealth of Virginia and other reciprocal states. Additionally, students who graduate with minors in PK-6 content areas (Social Studies, English, General Sciences, Mathematics) will have completed the undergraduate endorsement requirements established by the Virginia Department of Education.
