Student Resources
Interdisciplinary Studies (IDST) Advisors provide information and assist in identifying available options for students. However, the ultimate responsibility for decisions rests with students. "We advise; you decide" is our motto. Advisors guide students without making the student dependent on them. An advisor's work centers on encouraging students to become independent, learn decision-making, and monitor her or his own progress. The IDST approach to advising is a proactive one. We do not always wait for the student to come to us, but reach out to the student through letters, phone calls, e-mail, and the IDST listserv.
